A practice built for the care she always wished her patients could find.

Shanique Lankford • Founder • Nurse Practitioner

Dual board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. More than a decade of experience in primary care and psychiatry. The same warmth and intentionality at every visit.

Her story

A career shaped by the question:
what would it feel like to be truly heard?

I became a nurse practitioner over a decade ago because I kept noticing a gap in health care: people leaving appointments with a prescription, but without truly understanding their symptoms, options, or treatment plan. I believe meaningful care starts with feeling heard.

I built Lanwell around the idea that getting the right support begins with a safe, collaborative space where you can share your full story. My care is designed with women in mind and open to all who value collaborative, respectful, whole-person mental health care. You deserve care that considers the full picture — mind, body, experiences, and goals.

Effective treatment starts with truly understanding your lived experience — not rushing to a one-size-fits-all solution.

Your First Visit

You won't leave with a rushed plan. You'll leave with a real one.

A first appointment at Lanwell isn't a 10-minute intake. It's a conversation. You'll talk through what's been going on, what you've already tried, and what you actually want from care. From there, we build a treatment plan together, one that fits your life, not a template.

What you can expect:
• A holistic review of your mental health history and current concerns.

• Space to share what has and hasn’t worked for you.

• Clear, transparent discussion of any medication, including side effects and alternatives.

• A collaborative follow-up plan that keeps you informed at every step.

How do I prepare for my first appointment?

Before your first appointment, it helps to think about what's been on your mind — even if you're not sure how to put it into words yet. There's no need to have everything figured out. Come as you are. You'll have time to share your story, ask questions, and talk through what you're hoping to get out of care. If you're currently taking any medications, having that list handy is helpful too.
